What Does Shower Door Repair Cost in San Diego?

Most shower door repairs in San Diego land between $85 and $320, and the large majority finish in one visit because we carry the common parts on the truck. The expensive outcomes are the ones where a cheap repair was attempted first.

Shower Door Repair Prices

RepairTypical PriceNotes
Hinge reset or replacement, per hinge$95 - $220Includes re-seating into proper backing if the original screws pulled out of drywall.
Sweep replacement (bottom of door)$85 - $175The single most common leak fix. Sweeps are a wear item, not a defect.
Jamb seal replacement$95 - $190Hardened vinyl stops sealing. Replacing it is usually the whole answer to water on the floor.
Slider roller and track service$140 - $320New nylon or ball-bearing rollers, track cleaned and straightened.
Full bottom rail replacement on a slider$220 - $480Needed when the rail is pitted through. New rollers alone will not fix a corroded rail.
Towel bar or handle replacement$90 - $200A bar used as a handle cracks glass at the hole. Replace the bar before the panel fails.
Single tempered panel replacement$350 - $1,100Cracked or chipped glass always gets replaced. Tempered glass cannot be repaired, ever.
Re-caulk and re-seal entire enclosure$180 - $400Old silicone that has lost adhesion lets water behind the frame.

What Pushes a Repair Toward the High End

ItemAdded CostWhy
Discontinued brand parts+$40 to +$150A 1990s or 2000s door may need a part sourced over several days. We tell you before we order.
Hinge pulled out of drywall+$100 to +$300The fix is not a bigger screw. It is backing behind the tile, which means opening and repairing a small section.
Glass chipped at an edgeReplacement, not repairTempered glass with an edge chip can release without warning. There is no safe patch.
Corroded frame on a framed doorUsually replacementOnce the aluminum or brass frame is pitted through, chasing parts costs more than a new door.
Water damage behind the seal+$200 to +$800If the leak has been running for a while, the repair is the easy part and the wall repair is the rest.

What a Repair Visit Includes

Repair or Replace: The Honest Line

Repair makes sense when

The glass is intact, the frame or hinges are sound, and the problem is a wear item: sweep, seal, roller, or a loose hinge. That is most calls.

Replace makes sense when

The glass is chipped or cracked, the frame is corroded through, or the door has failed at the same point twice. Repeat repairs cost more than one replacement.

The one thing we will not do

Patch cracked tempered glass. A star crack or edge chip means the panel is on borrowed time, and it fails without warning. No reputable shop will seal over it.

How Fast Can It Be Fixed

Most repairs are a single visit, usually scheduled within two to four business days. If a part has to be ordered the visit pushes to about a week. Panel replacement is 7 to 12 business days because the glass has to be cut and tempered.

Pricing Questions

My door swings open by itself. What is wrong?

Almost always a hinge plate that has loosened or lost its bushing. A door should rest a few degrees shut under its own weight. If it swings free, the hinge has moved.

Can you fix a leak without replacing anything?

Often yes. A worn sweep or a hardened jamb seal is the usual cause of water on the floor, and both are inexpensive parts. We test under water before leaving.

Is it worth repairing a 15-year-old framed door?

Usually not. Once the bottom rail is pitted and the rollers are shot, a replacement costs a little more than a full rebuild and lasts far longer. We will tell you which side of that line you are on.

Do you charge for the diagnosis?

No. We talk it through on the phone first. If it sounds like something a screwdriver fixes, we say so and save you the visit.
